Why I Write About Angels

Home » Why I Write About Angels

Friends ask me why I write about angels. I think it started as a small child in Sunday school when a teacher told me I had one —a guardian angel. I don’t exactly remember all the details. She may have been reading from a story book or even scripture. But I tucked the morsel away in my heart as a precious, warm thought to cherish. After not seeing any physical angels, I must have forgotten about the moment. Yet, still the precious memory lingered.

Years later as a teenager driving a car, I became aware of a presence lingering in the car with me. I remember trying to talk to the empty seat and feeling silly. In the Bible book store, I had seen pictures of Jesus at the helm of a young man’s boat during a raging storm. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me that it might be my angel. Instead I envisioned Jesus. I tried to see the Holy Spirit, but I didn’t know how he would appear.

As I read more of my Bible and discovered all the verses about angels, I realized that God really does send us his angels as messengers and protectors. It seemed to me, the more I pondered and prayed about them, the more they revealed themselves to me through the veil that separates the dimensions between us.
Unfortunately, just like I forgot to pray until a catastrophe occurred, I tended to forget about the angels as well.

Finally, my life slowed down, allowing me the leisure to not just read but study my Bible. After a while, I started reading through the Bible on a yearly basis and then switching to a new Bible. The angel verses came to life for me. Thus, I created the character, Gran, who is a biblical angel expert. She introduces us to her guardian angel, Gabriella in Where is Katherine’s Angel? Gabriella is the first of many angels you will fall in love with as you read through the Sanctuary of the Seraphim Series.
